Tigers : Just 1411 left.

Hi All,

Alarming, sad, unfortunate... Its unbelievable that we the "aam junta" have been sleeping on this forever. I count myself in this. From whatever I have read about the problems that our environmentalists are facing, it seems that the root of all this is deeply political in nature. Once again, politics has spawned its ugly wings over this poor species and brought it to the verge of extinction and we the people have let this happen.

Its late already but as wisely said "Better late than never", lets roar against this. Alone, I m one voice, but together, we could be a powerful voice against this hedious crime of tiger poaching. Letting this beautiful animal become history isn't going to be something that I would want to live with. Would you want to live with this?

Lets do everything that is possible within our power, write, blog, speak up, donate and save the tiger.

Back to School

No, I am not wearing a white half-sleeve shirt, a cream half-pant and canvas shoes for uniform anymore and neither am I waking up early and stuffing myself in an auto-rickshaw already stuffed with other school kids. This is just a memory, and that too just one of the innumerable wonderful memories I have of school.

School wasn’t as interesting in primary and upper-primary as much as it was in high school. The feeling was very similar to graduating from college. A very weird but proud feeling that I was no more a kid (thou at 27 I m still very much a kid. :-D )

High school was cool. Classes started at 7.20 in the morning. Getting up early to make it at that time wasn’t much fun but I guess that was the only part that wasn’t fun. I never had a school bus. So city transport was my school bus and it was so for many other kids in my locality. At least that’s the impression that we gave to the other passengers.

Dad would drop me to the bus stop at 6.30 and I would catch the 6.40 bus that would drop me about a kilometer away from the school gate. From the bus stop to the school was a 10 minute walk, the walk that became the most important walk of my day in higher-secondary school (This I will come back to later..). But this early morning walk with heave baggage on the back (read school bag), chatting with friends all along was precious.

Continued..

The bell would ring at 7.20 which meant assembling in the class rooms immediately. And from there on, every bell ring in every half hour was received with more and more enthusiasm. No… not because I was excited at the thought of learning, but excited at the thought that there were lesser lectures to tolerate after every bell. :)

There would be a 5 minute interval between every lecture meant to be used to empty out our bladders. But the smart ass that I was, I never used these breaks for leaks. This was the time to chat up again. Bitch about teachers and the principal, find new names for teachers and classmates alike (no bias here…). The leaks were requested during the lecture period which would become another excuse to get some spare time to loaf around.

Then there was a 15 minutes break for breakfast. This was the time all my friends wanted to whole-heartedly share the food they'd brought. There was only one reason for this so called sharing. Everyone liked to eat from the other person’s box. We despised the food we brought from our homes (thought now I realize, there was nothing better :( ..). The post-break lectures were merely a wait for the final bell which would signal our freedom for the day. It would mean the rest of the day was mine again.

To be continued…

The New Year Resolution

By the end of every year, a general question that seems to be buzzin around is "Whats your new year resolution?"

This whole "New Year Resolution" buzz starts pickin up during the last week of the year, and honestly, though no one would want to agree to it, this is a pretty interesting topic in every circle. People come up with resolutions like witty dialogues in a Priyadarshan movie. Everyone has one. Some have a readymade one that they use every year like "I am going on a diet" (I pesonally despise this one) and some come up with one on the fly when asked.

2009 was no different. People were pretty excited about this. One of my friends ACTUALLY told me that she wanted to go on a diet to pull down some weight and what did I do when I heard that ? Had a hearty laugh..!! One other friend told that she had no idea what to resolve (such people find this stuff really silly...) and another friend asked to help him out with one :). People just love doing this. Its like buying a new pair of shoes. Pretty exciting to do. The difference is, unlike your new shoes, most of us wont be wearing our resolutions (read: putting them into practice) let alone thinking about them.

So, what's your new year resolution this time?

Why Am I Blogging

The mother of all questions I guess is this one "Why am I blogging?"

There is this one incredible thing about the human mind. Even when you and sitting idle and not doin anything or even when you feel that you are not thinking anything, your mind is weaving so much within itself. So many random thoughts come to your mind every now and then. Every thing u see in front of you, everything thing u listen to, everything u touch, everthing u feel, everything u taste could make u give it a thought.

So, anything worth a thought could  be shared and thats precisely what I want to do with this new blog of mine. I am here to write whatever provokes me to write. Starting from things like a pin to things like world peace and terrorism (I guess the latter wont feature too much, coz its already talked and written about so much.. :) ).

So this is me and I am here.
